Graduate student support

Graduate fellowships

All eligible incoming graduate students are assessed for fellowships. Outstanding students may be awarded University of Victoria Fellowships in either an MSc or a PhD program.

Part-time employment

Fellowship holders may be also granted paid employment in the department and may receive support from research funds, for a total remuneration of up to $25,162 per annum (MSc) or $28,162 per annum (PhD).

Students holding NSERC awards may also be granted employment in the department and are eligible for other support to a maximum (including the NSERC award) of $26,600 per annum (PGS-M) or $28,400 per annum (PGS-D).

Other full-time graduate students may be granted part-time employment within the department and/or they may be supported by research funds of faculty members.

Support awards

Graduate support awards of all federal and provincial granting agencies applicable to Canadian citizens or landed immigrants are tenable at the University.
